Juggling in Afghanistan - a challenge
One butterfly alone does not make spring...but the support of the juggling community can provide wings. Parwana means “butterfly” in Dari. The Parwana Children's and Youth Circus organises circus and educational projects for 1,000 girls and boys in Kabul, giving not only the children a perspective, but also the professional jugglers, who have been effectively banned from working since 2021.
The association “Jonglieren in München” has established a partnership and supports the Afghan Parwana Circus in collaboration with the entire juggling scene.
What we do:
- facilitate exchange, workshops and shows through videochat, for example via zoom.
- collect juggling props: clubs, rings, balls, devilsticks, diabolos... everything that is still in good shape and that they cannot make from scratch over there. At the Aichtal Con there will be a collection box, and the material will be sent to Kabul after the convention
- Money is needed: Parwana needs about 1000,00 € per month for rents, salaries and material. 100 people who give 10,00 € per month… or a single donation through a German juggling association really make a difference!
